Note: The race as a whole is referred to as 'The Kyuverai'. More than one member of the species will also be 'kyuverai', eg. 'the three young kyuverai chatted amongst themselves'. A single member of the species is a kyuun, eg, 'the nicest kyuun I have ever met healed me'.
The Kyuverai are shapeshifters. They aren't invisible, but they can take almost any form, from a wisp of smoke to a snake slithering across the ground; however, whatever shape they change into, they will keep the same body mass.
They have gentle natures and are benevolent beings. Due to an ancient pact formed long ago by the ancestors of the race, if they hurt any being, they are dealt the same hurt themselves. This generally leads them not to hurt others, even if they want to.
Each has one power, and one power alone; the power to heal. They can heal almost any wound, but when Death calls an individual, not even a Kyuverai can prevent them from falling through his iron trapdoor. However, they often do save lives by, for instance, healing wounds before an individual can die from loss of blood. They heal minor wounds, cuts, and broken bones with ease.
Unfortunately for the rest of the world, they are rare; only about twenty have ever been sighted.
They also have strange links with dreams; most are dreamy and absent, and often see visions. These visions can occasionally be prophetic, but are often not, so most Kyuverai ignore them.
Some individuals can also walk in another's dreams. While they cannot alter the dreams, they can see what the individual is dreaming about, and speak to the individual.
Making a Kyuverai Character
Anybody may make a Kyuun character. However, please post here with a rough outline of what the profile will look like before you make one, or PM me with the same. I will decide if they will make a good Kyuun or whether they stray too far from species norms. I may as species creator allow one or two hot-tempered or nasty kyuverai, but not many.
I am also going to restrict this to 20 or so characters, in addition to any I may make myself, as I want the species to remain rare.
Kyuverai Stats
Lifespan: 200-300 years.
While they have a long lifespan, this also means they develop more slowly than other creatures. They are considered children under the age of 20, teenagers from 21-55, and young adults until they are 100, when species will consider them 'full' adults / middle aged.
Breeding: Kyuverai always mate for life. They can breed from the ages of 80-280. Kyuverai matings will generally result in twins, occasionally a single child or triplets. Kyuverai children are known as 'kyuki'. Kyuki will usually stay with their parents until they are around 80 or 90. Occasionally, they remain a family group for life.
Packs and Groups: Kyuverai are gentle, kind creatures and do not mind joining groups or packs. However, pure-Kyuverai packs and groups will rarely form, partly because of their rarity, and also partly because other creatures would always want to join, and the Kyuverai would generally let them in! Kyuverai may join packs and groups, but will generally hold themselves slightly aloof- they are an ancient race, and though they are gentle and kind and generally amicable, they do not like other species disrespecting them. They will also never help fight in a pack or defend borders, so they will rarely earn high ranks.
In Fights: Kyuverai cannot fight, because whatever injury they inflict is inflicted upon themselves. This is not metaphorical. For instance, if one became a wolf and scratched his opponent's eye, a wound will suddenly appear across their own eye.
The only way to get around this? If a novice Kyuun accidentally performed a healing wrong and injured somebody, this would not hurt the Kyuun. This also does not apply to accidents- it is the intent of the Kyuun that causes the problem, not the wounds on the enemy.
General Height Range: It depends- if they make all their mass into a tall, thin pole, it can be massive; if they spread their mass out along the ground, it can be minuscule.
General Weight Range: This is a vary varied species, and they can be anything from 10-40kg (children) to 20-50kg (adults).
Powers: Kyuverai always have the power to heal. Very rarely, one will have a weak telepathic connection with a sibling; apart from that, they never have any powers other than that of healing.
